Product Description:

The SunTouch WarmWire Electric Radiant Floor Heating Cable is an energy-efficient underfloor heating solution, available in a wide range of sizes to accommodate various installation requirements and project scopes, helping reduce cold spots while enhancing overall comfort. WarmWire is a durable, constant-diameter heating cable designed for installation with the SunTouch HeatMatrix Anti-Fracture Uncoupling Membrane, which features precision-engineered preformed channels that securely hold the heating cable in place and whose design supports efficient heat transfer.

The innovative click-in system helps keep the heating cable securely positioned during installation and long-term use, maintaining consistent spacing for even heat distribution across the floor. The SunTouch HeatMatrix uncoupling membrane also provides waterproofing, vapor management, and shear stress control, helping protect tile installations by reducing the effects of substrate movement. HeatMatrix can be installed directly over wood-framed floors with plywood or OSB subfloors, including floor assemblies where cement backer board and tile are installed above the subfloor, as well as over concrete slabs, making it suitable for indoor installation.

Cable spacing over the HeatMatrix can be adjusted to meet specific heating requirements, with standard spacing set at approximately 3 inches for efficient and uniform heat distribution to maximize system performance. For higher heat output in areas with greater heat loss, such as sunrooms or basements, the heating cable can be installed using an alternating 2-inch and 3-inch spacing pattern (2"/3"/2"), which increases heat output in watts per square foot while remaining within manufacturer-approved limits. In lower heat loss areas, including hallways or interior spaces, spacing can alternate between 3 and 4 inches to deliver reduced heat output while maintaining consistent and reliable performance.

The WarmWire heating cables integrate seamlessly beneath finished flooring when embedded in self-leveling underlayment or polymer-modified mortar thinset adhesive, making them ideal for a wide range of interior floor heating applications and compatible with a variety of floor coverings. Common finished flooring types include ceramic tile, porcelain tile, marble, granite, natural stone, slate, limestone, travertine, quartzite, onyx, cement tile, mosaic tile, glass tile, and engineered stone tile, providing flexible layout options to suit diverse project requirements.

The system is well suited for bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, entryways, laundry rooms, mudrooms, sunrooms, basements, hallways, and other indoor living spaces. WarmWire is also compatible with approved resilient floor coverings such as luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, laminate flooring, engineered wood, hardwood, and stone plastic composite (SPC), provided the finished flooring is rated for radiant heat, installed in accordance with the flooring manufacturer’s temperature limits, and properly encapsulated using an approved self-leveling underlayment.

WarmWire heating cables are available in both 120V and 240V options, making them suitable for a wide range of room sizes and layouts in new construction, renovation, and remodeling projects, including residential and commercial underfloor heating applications, delivering a dependable radiant heating solution.

Controlled by a SunTouch floor-sensing programmable thermostat, the system delivers precise temperature regulation through continuous temperature monitoring for consistent comfort and optimized energy use. This kit is offered with two thermostat options: the SunTouch 500950-SB CommandPlus Wi-Fi programmable thermostat and the SunTouch 500900-SB ConnectPlus Wi-Fi programmable thermostat, both of which allow remote monitoring and adjustment through a mobile app. Each thermostat uses a dedicated floor sensor to help maintain consistent warmth, protect floor coverings, and support efficient energy performance. The WarmWire heating system is approved for shower applications where permitted by local code, providing added versatility for wet area installations.

The WarmWire heating system is well suited for tile-focused projects, including bathroom tile, kitchen tile, and basement tile installations, delivering dependable warmth and long-term comfort when installed in accordance with manufacturer instructions and local electrical codes. Featuring advanced dual-wire technology, WarmWire is designed to reduce electromagnetic fields (EMF) to ultra-low levels, prioritizing safety and peace of mind. SunTouch recommends using a polymer-modified thin-set mortar that meets ANSI A118.4 or ANSI A118.11 standards when installing the HeatMatrix uncoupling membrane over approved substrates such as plywood, OSB, cement backer board, or concrete slabs. These mortars provide the required bond strength and flexibility to properly secure the membrane to the substrate.

When installing tile or stone flooring over the HeatMatrix membrane, a polymer-modified thin-set mortar is also recommended to ensure proper adhesion between the tile and the membrane surface. Mortar should be applied using an appropriately sized notched trowel to achieve full coverage and a secure bond.

For installations using SunTouch WarmWire heating cables, the cables may be encapsulated with an approved self-leveling underlayment prior to tile installation. This approach helps create a smooth, flat surface and simplifies tile setting. 

Please note that it is highly recommended to overlap all uncoupling membrane joint lines using a waterproof band, tape, or strip. This recommendation applies to both residential and commercial applications.
